Sales Engineer (Motor Core Business Development)

Location: Novi, MI

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting sales team with solution selling into prospect account base.
  • Partnering with sales team to plan, prepare and execute strategic deals in complex sales cycles.
  • Modeling the financial business case associated with each sales opportunity.
  • Successfully match customer pain/requirements to proposed solutions.
  • Create and deliver powerful presentations and demos that clearly communicate the uniqueness of the value proposition.
  • Manage all technical aspects of RFQ / RFI responses.
  • Effectively communicate client needs to the R&D teams for future product enhancements.
  • Collect and document competitive intelligence.

Requirements and skills:

  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in Motor Core.
  • 3 plus years of proven work experience as a Sales Engineer.
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent.
  • Proven track record selling complex enterprise solutions.
  • Ability to forge strong, long-lasting relationships with senior executives.
  • Ability to creatively explain and present complex concepts in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation and creative skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Assistant Manager- R&D

Location: Novi, MI

Responsibilities:

Manage and supervise all FEA-based product design request for coil springs, stabilizer bars, and trunk lid torsion bars with understanding of the request, discuss unclear design condition with requester, assign design work to appropriate team member, ensure work progress meet deadlines, and identify technical issues and discuss with R&D teams in US and Japan for countermeasure and improvement conducted in English and Japanese languages; Train team members to measure coil spring and stabilizer shape with 3D scanner and post-process the obtained point cloud data for FEA; Educate team members for product design method, as well as creating various training materials; Educate team members how to use CAE software tools including Abaqus, Hyperworks, CATIA, PolyWorks, and MATLAB; Cooperate with plant side to solve the manufacturing issues by analyzing the plant data and providing countermeasures based on advanced knowledge of FEA and manufacturing equipment; Maintain internal software tools with license management; Assist supervisors to achieve team’s goal; Attend frequent meetings with parent company and prepare reports in English and Japanese languages to discuss technical issues and improvement; Review and understand reports prepared by parent company in Japan in Japanese language and translate to English as necessary; Daily communication by email and phone conferences with parent company in Japan, conducted in Japanese language; and Reviewing customer specifications and drawings for Japanese customers in Japanese language. Travel 2x/year to plant in Kentucky; 1 to 2 weeks per trip.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Material Science, or Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering, or Applied Mathematics, or Mathematics, or Physics, or foreign degree equivalent, plus 5 years of post-baccalaureate progressively responsible experience as a Senior Product Engineer and/or Senior Design Engineer and/or Research Engineer in the automotive industry; OR Master’s degree in Material Science, or Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering, or Applied Mathematics, or Mathematics, or Physics, or foreign degree equivalent, plus 3 years of experience as a Senior Product Engineer and/or Senior Design Engineer and/or Research Engineer in the automotive industry. Experience must include: Static-based product design; FEA-based product design (coil springs and stabilizer bars); Spring manufacturing processes and spring evaluation method; Numerical analysis, applied linear algebra, mathematical modeling, and calculus; MATLAB, CATIA, ABAQUS, HyperWorks; Microsoft Office tools, such as Word, Excel, Power Point; and Read, write, and speak Japanese language.
